Laura Linney reveals secret pregnancy

Actress Laura Linney Welcomes Son After Keeping Pregnancy Secret
Mum was the word when it came to Laura Linney's pregnancy!

Actress Laura Linney, 49, managed to keep everyone (in the public, at least) in the dark for nine long months. 'Good Morning America' says her son's name is Bennett Armistead and he was born Jan. 8.

E! says the actress did a good job of hiding her pregnancy. She hasn't even been seen in public since attending an event in Beverly Hills in June.

At the time, she would have been about three months along and kept her growing baby bump hidden under a baggy black dress.

She was also a no-show at the 2013 Emmy's where she won Best Actress for her role in 'The Big C.' It was her fourth Emmy.

Linney's rep told People both the actress and her newborn son are happy and healthy.

OH WELL I RATHER SEE AN OLDER COUPLE WITH THE MEANS TO RAISE THEIR CHILD AS OPPOSSED TO TEENAGERS OR OTHER YOUNG ADULTS THAT ARE NOT EQUIPPED FINACIALLY OR EMOTIONALLY TO RAISE A CHILD.

Glad she's so happy and that everyone is in good health, whether she did in vitro, or whatever. My only hesitation is her age. We can pretend it doesn't matter, but when you're 16 and your mom is 65, it IS different than having a parent who is 40 or 45 years old. I'm not saying it's the worst thing in the world (so don't get your drawers in a wad, you hypersensitive types), but let's not pretend like there's no difference.

I just think it is wrong for this story exclude the fact that this had to be a result of in-vitro fertilization or using a surrogate. This story mis-leads woman to believe that they can have their own biological children at a late age. They cannot. Laura Linney is a very vocal person on her views of the world. I hope she is honest to the woman who may hear about this.

I had kids early. At 49 I have 3 grown adult children and 2 Grandchildren. I take care of them during the week and can't imagine having to do that 24/7 all over again. It's a beautiful thing that she was blessed with a child and I'm sure she's on cloud nine right now but wow, all the work involved and at that age! She better have money to afford help!

She no doubt has tons of money to pay for help. Also, she only has the one child, which is much less work than having three like you did. Also, who knows why she waited. Maybe she had fertility problems or maybe she just never met anyone she wanted a baby with until now. Maybe she wasn't the kind of woman who wanted to raise a baby by herself like a lot of women do today for various reasons.

FERTILILTY, this story gives false hope to woman they can have children when they are older. And, Fertility drugs have their risks and are not always safe. This story is incomplete and mis-leads women.

Lauren you sound bitter you have my sympathy if you are having fertility issues. It is rare for women in their late 40s to conceive naturally but not completely unheard of. My Mom was 47 when she had my baby brother all natural. Honestly, it really isn't anyone's business how she conceived.

YOU ARE NOT TOO OLD AT 40, MORE THAN LIKELY YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE YOUR MENSTRAUL CYCLE FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 8 TO 10 YEARS, SO IF YOU HAVE A UTERUS THEN GO AHEAD AND GET BUSY.
