Extinct shark found in Kuwait fish market

Extinct Shark Found In Kuwait Fish Market

A shark species previously thought to have been extinct was reportedly found in a fish market in the Middle East.

This is the smoothtooth blacktip shark, and the last time anyone ever reported seeing one was was in 1902 in Yemen. Scientists eventually labeled it extinct, or vulnerable to extinction in the 1980's.

Then in 2008, the Shark Conservation Society took a trip to a fish market in Kuwait. They were looking at sharks and noticed one looked 'very similar, but different, to a couple of other species.' So of course they decided to investigate.

Further analysis confirmed it was in fact the smoothtooth blacktip shark.

But there's more: Recent studies of Middle Eastern fish markets also counted as many as 47 more have been spotted.

Now this doesn't mean the species is necessarily thriving, but it does mean scientists have a greater chances at learning more about the shark and possibly even ways to save the species.

Extinct? Either the story of the fish is a lie or it's not extinct. Lying titles to attract readers? AOL your just a low class news source with tweens working for you (hence the lack of intelligence)

First of all the biggest poachers market happens to be China. They believe in alot of bullshit in Asia. NO part of any endangered species that you eat will give you any health benefit or any bigger erection on extremely small Asian or Chinese dicks. When populations get so overwhelmingly infinite, all kinds of problems will come, like wars, overfishing, overfarming, importing food from other countries, disease, resource depletion. Humans are becoming like locust, they'll eat everything in their path leaving nothing, then moving on to someone else's land to feed some more. Once everything is gone or destroyed, then they start eating each other. But before that happens, wars will come, then famine, then disease, then canabalism, get the picture? I don't like the Chinese communist government, but they had only one thing right: the one child policy. But since all the american and european companies have bail out on America and taken our jobs to China and elsewhere, now they can afford to destroy the remaining endangered species around the world!

Nothing good about any animal becoming extinct, but thats the role of nature.Everything goes down that road and man will face that sooner or later. It maybe sooner if we keep going on the way we conduct ourselves.
