Elephant flips car in national park

WATCH: Elephant Flips Car In National Park

Two people on safari in South Africa's Kruger National Park were in for a shock when an elephant flipped the car they were in.

A British woman named Sarah Brooks is thought to be one of the passengers in the car, and BBC says she was stabbed in the leg with a tusk. The Telegraph reports the man in the car suffered less serious injuries and both are expected to make a full recovery.

The elephant was put down for 'posing a threat to tourists.'

Why weren't the tourists put down for 'posing a threat to elephants'????

"Put down"? What a sanitized way of saying slaughtered! Bull elephants are territorial and while I'm very sorry that the people were injured, they were in the elephant's territory! If people choose to travel through areas where wild animals are found, then I think they should accept the risks associated with that.

We've done it again. We invade an animal's territory and murder it if it reacts to the invasion. Isn't the human species wonderful. And, yes, I do feel bad for the people in the car who were injured. I feel bad for all concerned, both human and animal. But when are we going to honor the rights of the other creatures on this planet?

It is so sad. They animals on the endangered list and they are eliminating animals for no reason. Just get the hell out of the way ! why irritate the animal HE was there first and it is his home.

There is a solution here. Elevate the Safari trail. Make it like ski lifts. The work alone would be a boost the local economy. Elephants are out of harms way and people can still enjoy the scenery. Put people in the "sky buckets" with cage to keep idiots from jumping or throwing things because people can not be trusted as shown in the video. Then the animals would be safe and the preserve would be assured no other kinds taunting or driving off the path and getting out for a better photo would occur. Problem solved!!

The only reason that elephant died is because it was pissed that people were in his territory. I agree completely with your idea.

I think tourists are a danger to elephants. Would you like to be a tourist atraction.
We should respect wild animals and stay away from them and let them be before we have any left to watch at all.

So this Majestic Elephant was put down because someone in a car was stupid enough to drive up to it , instead of away. They should have had the no brains people put down.
