Iran nuclear deal to take effect on January 20

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Afkham

(Reuters) - Iran's interim nuclear deal with six major powers will come into force on January 20, the Iranian Foreign Ministry and the European Union said on Sunday.

"Capitals have confirmed the result of the talks in Geneva ... the Geneva deal will be implemented from January 20," Marzieh Afkham, spokeswoman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, told reporters in Tehran, the semi-official Mehr news agency said.

EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton also confirmed the date, and said the sides would now ask the United Nations' nuclear watchdog to verify the deal's implementation.

"We will ask the IAEA to undertake the necessary nuclear-related monitoring and verification activities," she said in a statement.

Ashton represents the six powers - the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany - in contacts with Iran related to its controversial nuclear program.

Senior officials from the European Union and Iran met in Geneva on Thursday and Friday to iron out remaining practical questions related to the implementation of the November 24 deal, under which Iran agreed to curb its most sensitive nuclear work in return for some relief from Western economic sanctions.

EU spokesman Michael Mann said on Friday that any agreements would need to be validated by the governments of Iran and the six powers.

The accord is designed to last six months and the parties hope to use the time to negotiate a final, broad settlement governing the scope of Iran's nuclear program.

Western powers suspect Iran has been trying to develop the ability to manufacture a nuclear weapon. Iran says its program is aimed purely at civilian electricity generation and other civilian purposes.

Trust Iran? Oh, please they can't be trusted in anyway shape or form! They are notoriously known for breaking treaties...Rebel's without a cause other than trying to take over the world by using deceit that they believe is ok to do. Iran's reputation is a bad one created by them and proven themselves to uphold no peace. They have been hot heads for centuries, all of a sudden they use the word curb.. for money. Take a hike Iran.

Why not just throw North Korea into the deal also?

Certainly Iran and North Korea, and their desire to destroy other nations, can be trusted to do the right thing. If Iran balks at doing the right thing, O'Rambo will lace up his combat boots, grap his SAW (Squad Assault Weapon), hang his 9mm from his side, strap his K-Bar to his leg, grab a bunch of grenades, tie the bandana around his head and then lead the troops in to kick some Muslim butt.

After all isn't that what he did with bin Laden?

I guess you are making a joke, but did you read this almost 2 years ago?

http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2012/02/why-thousands-of-iranian-women-are-training-to-be-ninjas/252531/

I myself don't believe it. I think a woman in Iran is just a hair above us infidels. My theory is this.
There will be many more classes. They will then infiltrate the US, through our "Open Door" policy, armed with US Dollars. Then get established incognito. After settling in go straight to the nearest Flea Market and buy Samurai Swords and whatever else they need.

They will then be like Duncan McCleod in the Highlander movies. They will have their weapons hidden, go to a mall, school, church, or main street USA big city and proceed to slice and dice some Infidels. They could very well take out as many or more innocent people than the Shooters do with guns. Of course bomb training probably falls in there too.

That was my first thought when I read the above article and I'm sticking to it.

Don't just worry about the Nukes.

Sorry Farhad. It isn't going to happen. There will be wars and rumors of war until the World as we know it come to an end.

One more Obama disaster, that he will get over on us because gay marriage, illegal immigrants, food stamps, welfare, extended unemployment and the president being black is more important than the future. Ideology trumps everything as we swirl down the gutter.

Getting Iran and Israel to make peace would be like making all dogs and cats love one another and a Mongoose liking a Cobra. Things like this will happen one day, but not on this Earth.

I'ld like to see Israel make peace with it's neighbors too, but they have to stop stealing their neighbors land first!
