Cee Lo Green wants to make the first big star of "The Voice"

Cee Lo Green - The Voice - Season 5

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - "The Voice" is a ratings success for NBC, but judge Cee Lo Green says it has one more mountain to climb.

Green said Friday that "The Voice" has yet to mint a new music star from its contestants, and he'd like to be a part of changing that.

As a contrast, Fox's "American Idol" has developed stars like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

Green has alternated with Usher as a judge on "The Voice." He says he'd like to continue but he has other ambitions that might someday pull him away.

Green is starring in a TBS comedy series with his colleagues in the rap group Goodie Mob that is due to air later this year.

You have to Sign In first to leave a comment.Muleskinner07 you are a fool that I guess has no talent. It takes some skill to be a rap star or the entire world would be rich. You sound like a talentless hater who better hope that you keep your skill-less job.

I think they need to bring Usher back as a permanent judge. Let Cee Lo do his
own thing

The problem with the show as i see it ,is the show makes these singers to polished. Most like raw talent . People like who they like. Janis Joplin wouldn't have made it on the show but looked how many fans she had. Mick Jagger ? Come on, but look how big a star he became.

Part of Joplin's appeal is that the girl had real soul... We have too many cookie cutter pop stars as it is, do we really need more?
