Woman finds bird skull in frozen spinach

A Florida woman is probably rethinking her grocery list after finding a bird skull in a bag of frozen spinach.

Madeline Brogan said she bought the bag of spinach from a Publix for a New Year's dish. She threw it in her sink and, once it thawed, she realized what it was.

'I piked it up, and started pulling the spinach off of it, and realized there were two eye holes, and it was a little skull,' she told WWSB, adding that she expected anything but this.

'I really would expect even a bug, or something that would be even a natural part of something that grows on the ground -- a pebble, a stick ... even a piece of a machinery.'

She she says she's not angry about the incident. Publix issued a refund and is investigating the matter.

Think that birds don't eat crops from the land? Think again. Although not as prevalent as bugs, birds are there. These plants process product thousands of pounds at a time, although they should have caught this item. Americans want quality and cheap products.......and they get mass produced. It does not surprise me one bit that this happened. Bravo for the woman's attitude. I would have done the same. She is not a leach on the body of society and was not looking to win the lottery because of this processing mistake. To do anything else shows the content of your character.

I am sooooooo glad I keep Kosher!!! And no - it does not mean that a Rabbi blessed the food - it means that the manufacturers and packagers have to follow the laws of the Bible - NO bugs and NO unclean animals (for this instance) and have to precautions up and above to make sure things like this don't happen.
