Prisoners was the best movie I saw in 2013. And the best actors... Hugh Jackman and Jake G.

Why was that movie not nominated?

Judi Dench in Philomena - best actress or Cate Blanchett in Blue Jasmine - best actress. Both were excellent.

Am I the only one that thinks Wolf of wall street was a 3 hour porn flick? I was glad I did not go with my nineteen year old daughter or anyone my parents age!

Are you assuming because there's snow on the roof, there's no fire in the basement?

Actress playing "Patsy" is great, and acting is great but one wonders about some of the depiction of life for the black Freeman of the film. He is depicted as being served in an extremely classy restaurant (just before being abducted) and, if you've seen "42," it's hard to buy that. Steve McQueen is British; I'm not sure he got it "right." The most exciting movie of the year: "Captain Phillips" with a phenomenal job from Tom Hanks and the Somalians recruited from Minneapolis (primarily); 2nd best and one of the "feel good" films of the year, David Russell's "American Hustle," with great performances all around; "Dallas Buyers' Club" and "Mud" and a cameo bit in "Wolf of Wall Street" mark Matthew McConnaugh's great year. I'd look for Jared Leto to take Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Dallas Buyers' Club." Everyone is applauding the technical achievement of "Gravity," which it deserves, but that film, & "12 Years A Slave" and "The Butler" are not as riveting as any of the ones above, and to that list you can add "Out of the Furnace" which was terrific (even though they ARE being sued).
