Bullock, 'Glee' poised for People's Choice Awards

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The most popular stars in television, music and film - including the cast of "Glee," Katy Perry and Sandra Bullock - are up for honors at Wednesday night's People's Choice Awards.

Broadcasting live on CBS from 9-11 p.m. EST from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, People's Choice is one of the first award shows of the season and one of the few decided by the fans themselves.

"Glee" leads with eight nominations, while Perry and Bullock top with five nods each. Perry picked up three awards in 2013. Other past winners also nominated this year include entertainers such as Robert Downey Jr., Jennifer Aniston, Emma Watson, One Direction, Taylor Swift, Jimmy Fallon, "True Blood" and "The X Factor."

Amusing categories like favorite TV anti-hero pit Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's Jaime Lannister of "Game of Thrones" against Bryan Cranston's Walter White of "Breaking Bad."

'Glee' Leads People's Choice Nominations

Additional unique categories include: TV bromance; TV gal pals; movie duo; on-screen chemistry; and series we miss most.

The star-studded show will feature appearances by Drew Barrymore, Ellen DeGeneres, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Jessica Alba, Christina Aguilera, Emily Deschanel, Zac Efron, Anna Faris, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michael B. Jordan, Queen Latifah, Melissa McCarthy, the cast of "The Big Bang Theory" and more.

Jennifer Hudson will receive the second annual humanitarian award for her work with the Julian D. King Gift Foundation, an organization she formed in 2009 in honor of her nephew, Julian King. Bullock gained the show's first humanitarian award in 2013 for her efforts in storm-ravaged New Orleans.

Brad Paisley, Sara Bareilles and OneRepublic will perform. Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs will host.

The People's Choice Awards nominees are determined by national ratings averages, box-office grosses, music sales, social media activity and peopleschoice.com data. Winners are selected by fans voting online.

It's been amusing reading the replies so far, thank you
The problem that I have are that these people are getting a reward for what is their job yet there are no ceremonies for the rest of us in the real world. We do our job and get a paycheck and that seems to be good enough for us. Unfortunately it's hte job of others to boost these people's egos, chase them around trying to get pictures of them and making magazines and websites to feed to those that have no other real life.
I'm off to live my life.

It must be sad to only live in your grim, gray, depressing little world.

I bet if you try boosting OTHER people's egos, you'll be surprised at how your life turns around. People warm to praise.

I think Sandra Bullock is great but what's up with everyone wearing the red lip stick?? I have never seen a single person wearing red lipstick that didn't look 15 years older with it on. Please retire the red lip stick!

Thumbs up, no Miley Cyrus. So sick of that little girls antics, and everything about her. Much like the Kardashians, so over saturated with their crap. Would never buy anything from either one.

I think these people need to have more award ceremonies, their egos need the reassurance.

If you knew how many of them donate substantially to these causes, you would be very ashamed...btw, how much do you give back?

I agree--they get paid big bucks--but or some reason I do believe they need constant reassurance and that's why these on-going, ever-lasting award shows. The rest of us -- we do or did (those of us who are retired) our jobs every day--sometimes working for people with issues (meaning they had to demean those who didn't kiss their butts on a daily basis) and hoped they'd get a raise or not get let go. We never got awards.
