Schumacher's wife: Leave us and hospital alone

Germany's Angela Merkel Fractures Pelvis While Skiing

GRENOBLE, France (AP) - Michael Schumacher's wife says the racing legend's family wants to be left in peace as doctors treat him after a brutal ski crash.

Corinne Schumacher spoke out Tuesday for the first time since her husband's Dec. 29 accident in the French Alps. In a statement, she said: "It's very important to me that you ease the burden on the doctors and the hospital so that they can do their work in peace."

She asked the international media who have gathered at the hospital in Grenoble to leave. "Please also leave our family alone."

The 45-year-old Schumacher has been in a medically induced coma since last week, after he hit his head on a rock.

Schumacher, who retired from Formula One in 2012, is the most successful F1 driver in history.

Hopefully they will honor the family's request. Doubt it though. Being the vultures that the media is.

Yes, prayers do work. Without God the medical people couldn't help him. As for God not letting him hit his head, had nothing to do with it. We have free will to do as we wish. God Bless him and his family.

My prayers go out to the family. I am here in the US and not much has been released after the first day of the accident. Would be nice for a family spokesperson to release a statement which includes the International media such as AOL here. When one is famous and in the most challenging sport earning money people who are fans want to know what is occurring. Countries need to curtail their media and hospitals need to set policies on visitation. Local laws should also reflect protection from public harassment. Hope one day again Michael gets to drive like he stole it.

Yeah, like 'prayers' are going to do anything...lets rely on modern medicine and science for the best outcome. Where was this 'god' when he hit his head on the rock anyways?
