Horse breaks loose, injures six at LA stables

Horse Gets Loose, Injures 6 In LA

Six people were injured when a runaway horse broke free from a California equestrian center Saturday.

Onlookers report seeing multiple horses running, likely the result of horses within a nearby riding group reacting to the incident.

It is unclear what initially spooked the horse but onlookers say it may have been noises coming from nearby tractors.

Six people were treated for minor injuries, including a wrist sprain.

Stable owners say it's not the horses' faults -- and that things like this 'just happen.'

There is NO reason for this brutality! NEVER! I trained quite a few horses in my 78 years as an Arabian breeder, and NEVER used INHUMANE devises. Standard equipment is all any GOOD trainer needs...you are in a partnership with your horse, and you MUST convince him that nothing is going to hurt him and that what you are asking is NOT impossible. It takes time sometimes, but there is NEVER a good excuse for this blatant cruelty. Just my humble opinion.

What are you talking about? The article is about horses that got spooked by a noise and dumped their riders. Nobody else here said anything about "cruelty".

I'm guessing that injuries were most likely caused by having very inexperienced riders. They could only handle the horses if they were behaving and had no clue what to do when they spooked.

I had a similar accident with my horse there many years ago where my horse spooked and dragged my friend Todd who was holding her. She ran from the trails onto the road and bloted onto the Freeway where she was struck and killed by 3 vehicles. Somethings there is no way to prevent these kinds of things from happening. They are lucky that is all that happened to them and should count their blessings. My friend Todd broke 3 ribs and had to have his spleen removed due to being dragged by my horse. Horses are creatures not everyone can understand but those of us that do we know the power in which these creatures have and that like us have a mind of their own.

Can't believe this is even a story in the news. Nobody got seriously hurt, and horses are wonderful, but anyone can get injured. Can't believe how many people think there are no risks in life. Come on, folks. Grow up!!

It was not horses fault. If you get on a horse be very kind and gentle with it. Horses have feelings also. I hate, loath, and depise ass holes who have to be gun hoe. They think they are so cool. If i thought nothing would happen to horse i would say stomp on him yah horse. G Gram Pat
