HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. -- Michael Jordan's 56,000-square foot home in suburban Chicago has failed to sell at auction after the bidding fell short. Jordan spokeswoman Estee Portnoy says nobody offered the reserve price of $13 million for the seven-acre estate in Highland Park, north of Chicago.
Portnoy says Concierge Auctions publicized Monday's auction well, but that market conditions aren't ideal. She says options for the property will be evaluated next year. The former Chicago Bulls superstar's home originally was listed at $29 million in early 2012.
It has nine bedrooms, 15 full bathrooms, a pool pavilion and a regulation-size indoor basketball court. It also features what's described as a "gentleman's retreat," complete with a library, wet bar and the original doors from the Playboy Mansion in Chicago.
Jordan now owns the Charlotte Bobcats.

Set on 7.39 acres just north of Chicago in suburban Highland Park, this longtime personal residence of Michael Jordan has 56,000 square feet of living space, with 9 bedrooms, 15 full bathrooms.
The master suite (not pictured) is an inviting 504 square feet, set into a curved wall with windows overlooking the landscaped yard.
The gate of Michael Jordan's residence bears his jersey number, 23, that has since been retired by the Chicago Bulls.
The property has 15 heated garage spaces.
The 7-plus acres are surrounded by a living fence of 150 mature evergreens, "creating an envelope of unparalleled privacy," according to the marketing materials from Concierge Auctions.
This basketball legend of course has a regulation-size, NBA-quality basketball court in the home.
The full-size basketball court, which is attached to the main residence, has cushioned hardwood flooring, adjustable backstops and baskets, competition-quality lighting, a custom sound system and locker rooms and showers.
The home is nestled in Highland Park, Ill, a tony suburb off Lake Michigan that is about 20 miles north of northern Chicago. On the property is a stocked pond and more than 100 mature Colorado Spruce trees.
Given Michael Jordan is an avid golfer, the grounds also contain a golf course.
The home is located at 2700 Point Lane, Highland Park, Ill. A previous attempt to sell the home in 2012 did not turn up any buyers who could close the deal.
All the equipment in the high-tech Fitness Studio will stay, including Michael Jordan’s personal treadmills, elliptical trainers, Stairmasters, Precor bike, Cybex arc trainer and free weights to keep the buyer in peak form.
The natural light-filled casual dining area with rotunda skylight has easy access through the floor-to-ceiling terrace doors for al fresco dining.
"The contemporary main kitchen is a masterpiece of both design and functionality," according to Concierge Auctions. It includes a ventilated island food prep area with gas Gaggenau cooktop, double convection ovens, a combination steam oven, two dishwashers and a breakfast bar.
While many areas of the home provide a cozy, intimate setting for friends and family, the public living areas welcome guests to expansive, light-filled rooms, according to Concierge Auctions.
The Guest Wing has 3 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. There is also a living room, outdoor terrace, and a gourmet kitchen. The guest kitchen has a Gaggenau gas cooktop, Gaggenau convection oven, sub-zero under-cabinet refrigerator, Gaggenau dishwasher, Panasonic microwave. There is also a Whirlpool washer and dryer.
The outdoor entertaining area has a fireplace and a Wisconsin limestone terrace.
The outdoor landscaping is essentially an extention of the indoor living spaces.
There is also a waterfall feature.
There is a card room with cove ceilings. Also, the Gentleman’s Retreat has a billiard parlor, fireplace, library, and a full wet bar.
The Gentleman’s Retreat also has the original doors from the Playboy Mansion.
In addition to also having a tennis court, Michael Jordan's residence also has a full-service beauty salon, a 500+ bottle wine cellar, and a home theater.
Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the family room. There is also plush carpeting, a built-in aquarium, and a fireplace. A series of 10 floor-to-ceiling windows, cove ceilings and a circular design also add to the style of the living room.
This circular lounge with leather seating looks out to the basketball court. It has a built-in HDTV and sub-Zero under-cabinet refrigerator.
The formal dining room, as seen through the doorway behind this kitchen, has lower ceiling heights drops to create an intimate, warm ambience, ripe for conversation over dinner and drinks, according to Concierge Auctions. The room also can display large works of art with ease.
