Nintendo's Wii has been suffering lately with the release of the far more popular PS4 and Xbox One, but the company got one thing right over the competition: handheld gaming. The 3DS is compact, fun, and full of incredible games - so many incredible games, in fact, that it's hard to weed out which ones are the absolute best. Our friends at US Gamer have pooled their collective knowledge and selected the 10 best 3DS games money can buy. Here are their recommendations:

Super Mario 3D Land

Super Mario 3D Land Gameplay Trailer

It may lack four-player simultaneous action, but this fast-paced action game is as close as you'll get to Super Mario 3D World on the go -- and that's a good thing.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Animal Crossing: New Leaf Gameplay

Don't let the lack of challenge and goals fool you. The latest Animal Crossing offers more addictive bug-catching and landscaping action than should be legal. [USG Review]

Shin Megami Tensei IV

Shin Megami Tensei IV (E3 2013)
Atlus squeezed a full sequel to SMT: Nocturne onto the 3DS. The graphics may be scaled down somewhat, but the series' legendary content, challenge, and depth remain intact.

Fire Emblem: Awakening

Fire Emblem: Awakening
The year's finest strategy RPG also represents the most accessible Fire Emblem game ever. But even though it has an easy mode and lets you turn off permadeath, don't make the mistake of assuming its content and variety has been watered down in the least.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - New Evil Trailer

A true sequel to A Link to the Past, the newest Zelda adventure remakes the Super NES classic with ugly graphics but a refreshingly open approach to progress and puzzle-solving. [USG Review]
