Katie Couric Joins Yahoo! News

Yahoo! welcomed a new "global editor" to its online newsroom Monday. You may have heard of her: Katie Couric.

The veteran host of news shows on NBC, CBS, and most recently ABC has been hosting a Web show on Yahoo! called Katie's Take since May 2012. Today, Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer announced in a Tumblr post that Couric would lead of "a growing team of correspondents at Yahoo News who will cover the world's most interesting stories and newsmakers" beginning in early 2014.

Explaining the hire, Mayer praised Couric for her "thoughtful, charismatic approach to journalism" and said "her experience is unmatched." Going forward, Mayer said Couric will be "the face of Yahoo News."
