West Melbourne School for Science to Install Definity Digital MyNature Grow™ LED Lights in Science Rooms and Lab

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Lighting Science® (OTCBB: LSCG), announced today a partnership with the West Melbourne Elementary School for Science to provide Definity Digital MyNature Grow™ LED lights to the school's lab and science classrooms. The LED grow lights will be used to teach students about photosynthesis as it applies to indoor gardening.

West Melbourne School for Science (WMSS) is a nationally recognized U.S. Department of Education 2012 Blue Ribbon School and a 2012 Intel School of Distinction. WMSS has been recognized at the state and national level for quality educational practices in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The indoor gardening program aims to educate students in the variety of horticultural environments that exist as well as the role of light in a plant's proper development.

"When we began our horticultural project, we knew that the hands-on experience that this brought to the children would be significant to their education, but now being able to bring the environment indoors, students will benefit from a full understanding of the importance of light to nature," said Neleffra Marshall, principal of WMSS. "Lighting Science lights will give our students the chance to learn about 'green' technologies that are currently available and promote a better understanding of the environment that they will inherit."

The Definity Digital MyNature Grow LED lights are designed for improved plant growth with the added benefit of increased energy savings. The proprietary LED source targets the key portions of the spectrum delivering more red and blue PAR (photosynthetically active radiation) per watt than other grow lights. The lamps provide the best light for each phase of growth and plant type, from flowering to fruiting and save up to 40% of the energy compared to traditional sources.

"Lighting Science is pleased to sponsor the West Melbourne School for Science and to foster student's interest in the science of light and how it affects our environment," said Jeremy Cage, CEO of Lighting Science. "By empowering students to experiment first hand and show the environmental impact anyone can make by utilizing energy efficient options, we hope our mission encourages students' own drive in the field of science and technology."
