University of Phoenix and (ISC)²® Foundation Announce First Recipients of Scholarship Program

Five full-tuition scholarships encourage higher education for information systems and technology professionals

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Universityof Phoenix, a subsidiary of Apollo Group (NAS: APOL) , today joins the (ISC)² Foundation to announce the first recipients of the 2013 University of Phoenix/(ISC)² Scholarship. (ISC)² is a global leader in educating and certifying information security professionals throughout their careers. The (ISC)² Foundation is a non-profit charitable trust that aims to empower students, teachers and the general public to secure their online life by supporting cyber security education and awareness in the community through its programs and the efforts of (ISC)² members.

Both (ISC)² and University of Phoenix are working to advance the skills of information technology and security professionals to combat the acute skills gap within the industry. The alliance also ensures coursework within University of Phoenix® College of Information Systems and Technology programs reflect up-to-date industry standards. Together, (ISC)² and University of Phoenix actively work to prepare students to meet the needs of today's demanding, technology-based workplace.

Through this program, five full-tuition scholarships have been awarded to newly enrolled University of Phoenix students. Each scholarship will allow a student the opportunity to complete an undergraduate or master's degree program within the University of Phoenix School of Information Systems and Technology.

The 2013 University of Phoenix/(ISC)² Scholarship recipients include:

Amelia Gowa, Cyberjaya, Malaysia; master's degree in information systems
Sherry Lemmon, Phoenix, Ariz.; bachelor's degree in information systems
Paul Pierre, Liberty Township, Ohio; master's degree in information systems
Heather Russio, Pleasant Hill, Calif.; bachelor's degree in information technology
Jason Wilson, Jacksonville, Fla.; master's degree in information systems
