CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MRV Communications™, Inc. (OTCQB: MRVC) ("MRV®"), a leading provider of innovative packet and optical solutions, today announced that MRV Communications has been named to the 2013 Broadband Communities list of Top 100 Broadband Companies. MRV was honored for showing innovation and advancing the cause of fiber-based broadband in North America and around the world.

With high-capacity broadband services in demand, service providers, technology companies, universities and local communities are coming together to develop innovative solutions to deploy the most advanced technologies possible. As a result, communities and businesses around the country are able to enjoy the benefits of a fiber-based broadband network. Broadband Communities Top 100 List recognizes the companies that are making this possible. Selection criteria are based on the publication's own industry reporting and suggestions from its readers, and look to recognize companies that are deploying ambitious network solutions, introducing innovative technologies and providing key conditions for fiber builds.

"The companies in this year's Broadband Communities Top 100 List are making great strides in overcoming many of the obstacles that stand in the way of universal fiber deployments - cost reduction, pioneering new revenue-generating broadband services and new ways to manage multiple services," said Masha Zager, editor, Broadband Communities magazine. "We are pleased to recognize MRV Communications as one of the companies that is showcasing the innovation and creativity needed to make a fiber-connected world a reality."

"With today's networks becoming increasingly complex, dynamic and multi-layered, MRV is committed to simplifying the optical network edge so that our customers can more quickly and easily deploy fiber into their communities and maximize revenue opportunities," said Tim Pillow, senior VP of sales and marketing, MRV Communications. "Being included in Broadband Communities Top 100 List recognizes MRV's 25-year history of innovation in developing the optical transport and carrier-grade Ethernet solutions that broadband communities use to improve service delivery, lower costs and minimize power consumption."
