Prudential ranks as an Adoption-Friendly Workplace

Prudential earns spot for financial assistance and paid leave offered employees who adopt

NEWARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- For the seventh consecutive year, Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYS: PRU) earned a spot on the Dave Thomas Foundation's "2013 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List."

"Prudential's adoption benefit is an important part of our Total Rewards offerings," says Maureen Corcoran, vice president of Health, Life and Inclusion. "It's an acknowledgement of our support for the diversity of ways our employees build their families. We're honored to be a part of that process and to once again be recognized as a family-friendly employer."

Prudential employees are reimbursed up to $10,000 per adopted child and receive up to 26 weeks of parental leave. There is no limit on the number of adoptions that can be covered in a year. In addition, Prudential offers counseling services and referral programs to help employees through the adoption process. For employees who are foster parents, the company also provides $1,000 per calendar year for new, foster care placements.

Louis Cammarano, a vice president in Prudential's Investment Operations has adopted three children as a Prudential employee. "Adopting a child can be challenging but Prudential made adopting a child easier for me and my family," says Cammarano. "The broad range of support including the financial help really made a difference in growing our family. We have shared with many people our adoption story and some of these people have chosen to adopt as well. Having the support of a great employer like Prudential has been essential to making our dreams of a family come true."

Every year, the Dave Thomas Foundation announces America's top 100 adoption-friendly employers. Rankings are determined by an analysis of a company's adoption benefits, including the maximum amount of financial reimbursement and paid leave for families who adopt.
