WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Siemens Energy received an order from Argentina for the turnkey construction of the Guillermo Brown thermoelectric power plant. The order volume, including power transmission, fuel supply solutions and a Full Service Maintenance contract for 10 years, amounts to approximately USD 800 million. Besides the turnkey construction of the plant Siemens will deliver two F-Class gas turbines and two generators. In addition, Siemens is also delivering the infrastructure works at the port to offload fuel, high-voltage transmission lines, switchyard, and fuel pipelines for the power plant. Commissioning is scheduled for 2015. The new power plant will have an electrical generating capacity of approximately 580 megawatts (MW).

Together, they have a generating capacity of about 3,000 MW of electricity. The currently installed power plant capacity in Argentina of approximately 30,000 MW is expected to increase strongly in the next decades. About 50 percent of the plants will be gas-fueled.
