IHS Forum to Focus on Industry, Energy Transformation in Americas

Leading IHS industry and policy experts will provide insights into the economy, energy policy, defense and national security, and the implications they hold for global strategies

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- IHS, Inc. (NYS: IHS) , the leading global source of information and analytics, will host the IHS Forum, September 17-19, 2013, in Houston. The twice-yearly forum will feature in-depth sessions on the economy, energy, chemicals, and construction presented by nearly 50 IHS experts from around the globe.

Among the topics on the agenda for the three-day forum are: the availability of low-cost petrochemical feedstocks in North America, lower economic growth in China, the need for significant U.S. chemical capacity additions in the next 10 years, and the implications of changing investment patterns for labor, equipment and other markets.

Featured speakers:

Don Taylor, Corporate Vice President - Supply Chain, EH&S Operations & Operations Services, The Dow Chemical Company

Jim Hughes, Chief Executive Officer, First Solar

Nariman Behravesh, Chief Economist, IHS

John Larson, Vice President, Economics and Public Sector Consulting, IHS

Key sessions include:

The Global Economic Outlook
The "dull old" economies show signs of life, as the "great deceleration" of emerging markets continues. This is forcing many companies to re-think their growth strategies.

Petrochemicals Resurgence in the Gulf of Mexico
The availability of low-cost petrochemical feedstocks in North America, combined with lower growth in China, will dramatically impact where and how much new chemical capacity will be built during the next 10 years. We will examine the current outlook for planned petrochemical capacity additions and offer our outlook for where additional capacity will be added during the next decade.

Manufacturing Renaissance in the US
We will examine how the complete unconventional oil and natural gas value chain (including upstream, midstream and downstream energy, and energy-related chemicals) is unleashing one of the most significant changes in our domestic energy outlook, creating an energy stimulus that is fueling economic growth and shifting the global competitiveness of U.S. manufacturing.

The Outlook for Energy
Numerous energy sessions will examine North American gas supply and production, North American gas demand, global LNG supply and demand, U.S. tight-oil supply, global crude oil and products markets, the future of coal-fired power generation, an update on renewables, and much more.

The conference will be held September 17 - 19, 2013, at the Westin Memorial City in Houston. For more information or to register for the Forum, go to www.ihs.com/forum
