The new skinny jean: can new technology make wearers look slimmer?
We all love our skinny jeans... and now they're starting to love us back. New developments in skinny jean technology (yes, it's a thing!) have given rise to what some are calling the Skinny Jean 2.0. They've been in style for a long time now, but never before like this.
Brands are now boasting that their jeans are capable of shaping, lifting, and giving a little nip and tuck where necessary. They're said to disguise flaws and make a woman look slimmer -- some even claim they'll bring you down a full size.
Madewell recently launched their new and improved denim: in which they've changed the fit, fabric and overall feel that the jeans give you. The new jeans are stretchier and less likely to bag. J Brand has released Photo Ready Denim, which uses fabric with "slimming stretch technology that lifts and contours to your body." Levi's launched Revel denim in July 2013, which uses "Liquid Shaping Technology that has been fused into the denim through innovative design techniques like screen-printing," and Coldwater Creek offers jeans with built-in, invisible stretch panels that smooth problem areas.
All of this sounds great, but what does it really mean? Basically, with new, stretchier fabrics, slimming stitching and strategic pocket placement, jeans are being reformulated to perfectly fit and compliment every woman's body. And honestly, we're pretty excited. (ABC News Blog)
