When it comes to sun exposure, there’s another celeb who isn’t afraid to share her opinion. In 2011 Gisele Bündchen said of sunscreen, “I cannot put this poison on my skin. I do not use anything synthetic.” The supermodel later backtracked and said the original quote was lost in translation. Lesson to take away: DO put on your sunscreen.
It’s no secret that Taylor Swift loves a cat eye, but what is startling is how she goes about mastering her liner. “I once used a Sharpie as eyeliner in an airplane bathroom because I didn’t have any with me,” the singer told Refinery29. Ladies, please never follow this example. Putting a toxic marker on the thinnest area of your skin is a bad, bad idea.
In her book Confessions of a Guidette, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi admits to exfoliating herself with kitty litter. Besides the fact that it’s beyond icky (even if it is clean litter), it can also be harmful, as jagged edges from certain kinds of litter can tear the pores.
During the filming of Miss Congeniality Sandra Bullock learned an interesting beauty trick that she passed on: “I didn’t realize that putting hemorrhoid ointment on your face is acceptable in the beauty business. But apparently butt-cream does help the lines around the eyes.” Just remember, that hemorrhoid cream is neither approved nor tested for the purpose of shrinking under-eye bags.
Lady Gaga’s makeup artist admitted that he had such a hard time removing glitter from her eyelids that he used tape to get it off. Not only do we not recommend this method, it sounds pretty painful.
In a recent interview with British Cosmopolitan, Gwyneth Paltrow said, “We’re human beings and the sun is the sun — how can it be bad for you? I think we should all get sun and fresh air. I don’t think anything that is natural can be bad for you — it’s really good to have at least 15 minutes of sun a day.” With all of the foods the actress deems unhealthy in her cookbooks, we can’t believe this is what she’s promoting.
