Pioneer Natural Resources Increases Sales but Misses Estimates on Earnings

EPS came in at $1.10. The 32 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ averaged $1.13 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $1.10 for Q2 were 41% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.78 per share. (The prior-year quarter included -$2.32 per share in earnings from discontinued operations.) GAAP EPS were $2.40 for Q2 compared to -$0.57 per share for the prior-year quarter.

For the quarter, gross margin was 80.3%, much better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 49.6%, much worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 28.5%, much better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $964.4 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.32.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $3.72 billion. The average EPS estimate is $4.84.
