Lavender is one of our favorite scents, and not only is the flower super fragrant, it has abilities to soothe and relax. One of our favorite ways to use the purple flowers is in a lotion.
3/4 cup pure almond oil
1 cup pure water
2 tbsp. shaved beeswax
30 drops lavender oil
To Make: For the lavender oil, place pure oil in a glass jar and fill with lavender flowers. Put the jar on a windowsill in direct sunlight for 48 hours, and shake it every 12 hours. Strain the oil, and repeat the process as many times as necessary until desired fragrance.
To make lotion: pour oil and beeswax into a glass measuring cup, placing in a saucepan with water reaching halfway up the measuring cup. Heat until beeswax dissolves, and immediately remove. Let cool for only a minute. Add cup of water to blender, and blend on high (use an old blender if possible, as beeswax will leave a waxy residue behind) - slowly adding oil/wax mixture. It will emulsify. After adding all of your oil mixture, add the drops of oil while blending to desired consistency.
