ARCADIS Grant Establishes ARCADIS-Colorado State University Center of Excellence in Remediation Hydrogeology
HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the leading pure play global engineering and consultancy firm, has made an unrestricted grant of $200,000 to Colorado State University to establish the ARCADIS-CSU Center for Excellence in Remediation Hydrogeology. The gift will be used to fund several aspects of the Center for Excellence in Remediation Hydrogeology, including graduate students, technical support, research, and an adjunct faculty position within the college.
"Over the past decade a remarkable collaboration has developed between ARCADIS, an international engineering services company, and Dr. Tom Sale in CSU's Center for Contaminant Hydrology," said Wade Troxell, Interim Dean in the College of Engineering. "We are extremely grateful for this gift."
The center's main areas of focus will be:
- Field-focused research in remediation hydrogeology and other aspects of groundwater restoration with application in mining, the oil & gas industry, and other critical areas.
- Develop training programs that will benefit the environmental remediation industry.
- Form consortiums to benefit stakeholders within the environmental remediation industry.
In addition, the ARCADIS grant will establish the annual Steven Blake Lecture on Water Resources. This annual series will highlight the work of select scientists and engineers whose work has had a beneficial impact on the management of our nation's water resources. Blake, a 1978 graduate of CSU in Watershed Science and recently retired CEO of ARCADIS US, was central in expanding the relationship between the company and the College of Engineering
"We are pleased to partner with Colorado State in creating the Center for Excellence in Remediation Hydrogeology," said Gary Coates, CEO for ARCADIS US. "We look forward to our continued collaboration to introduce innovative solutions to some of the world's most complex issues based on research conducted by CSU students."
The ARCADIS-CSU Center of Excellence is a collaborative effort of both the University and ARCADIS, directed by Dr. Tom Sale of CSU and Dr. Fred Payne of ARCADIS.
According to Dr. Payne, "The research done here will provide new ideas and solutions that will have application in mining, the oil & gas industry, environmental remediation and even water supply."
