SK Telecom Wins Small Cell Industry Award for Commercial Deployment of LTE Small Cells with Contela Products Built on Mindspeed Solution

Leadership in Small Cell Technology for Korean Market Honored for a Second Consecutive Year

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. (NAS: MSPD) , a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure applications, today announced that it has been honored with SK Telecom and Contela with a Small Cell Industry Award for 'Innovation in Commercial Deployment (Operator)' at the 2013 Small Cell World Summit in London. The award singles out SK Telecom's public access small cell network for its groundbreaking success over the last year.

SK Telecom rolled out their first wave of LTE small cells in June 2012 and has achieved global recognition for their network architecture featuring Contela's LTE small cell technology -- powered by Mindspeed®'s Transcede® system-on-chip (SoC) processor. In addition to the business case for the deployment, technical highlights that the judges considered with the entry included advanced voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) capabilities, interference mitigation, quality of service (QoS) assurance and increased throughput at the cell edge.
