NIC Employee Participates in White House National Day of Civic Hacking

Matt McKnight Selected by White House to Produce Applications on June 1

OLATHE, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- NIC Inc. (NASDAQ: EGOV), the dominant provider of eGovernment services, congratulates NIC innovator Matt McKnight for being selected as one of more than 35 individuals from across the United States to participate in the National Day of Civic Hacking at the White House on June 1. McKnight will join other developers and technology experts at the White House to produce full, production-ready applications and visualization tools that will be featured on the We the People website and made available under an open source license.

"We are proud to have Matt represent NIC at the White House, as he is the second NIC employee to participate in a White House technology initiative this year," said Harry Herington, NIC Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. "He will get to focus on what NIC does best - developing online government services that make conducting business with government more secure and efficient."

McKnight currently serves as the Director of Development with NIC's Delaware portal and leads a local Dover, Del., team to develop innovative eGovernment services for the citizens and businesses of the First State. Previously, McKnight served as a Senior Developer in Kentucky and has been with NIC for 6 years.

This is the second annual hackathon at the White House. In 2012, 21 participants built applications related to the White House petition system. More information is available at
