MtronPTI HPO Series Helps Make Your Flight Safe and Efficient

±5 ppm temperature stability, ±25 ppm lifetime stability, -55 to +125 operating range

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MtronPTI, a world leader in harsh environment RF & microwave filters and custom frequency control products, today announced the HPO series oscillators for harsh environment high temperature applications. Joe Doyle, Vice President of oscillator engineering, says, "The HPO's ±25 ppm stability, military temperature range and reliability make it perfect for safety and efficiency systems like airframe and engine control."

Joe continues, "Flight and engine control system designers need to minimize size and weight, make sensitive measurements looking for slight performance deviations and above all make sure systems work perfectly while riding the wing. With a demand for increased air travel efficiency, more and more designers are turning to harsh environment control systems. The HPO series is expressly designed as the timing source to fill that need."

According to Lucintel, aerospace market research and consulting company, the global avionics market will be about $8B by 2020 - nearly a 4% CAGR from today. Despite spending slowdowns in the last six years, total industry sales grew. Communication and navigation grew most, followed by control, radar and surveillance with North America taking largest share. Demand for new aircraft is steady and upgrades to older planes continue to improve performance and efficiency.

Modern commercial jet turbofans generate thousands of data points per second to manage fuel consumption and engine operation. An array of sensors, A/D converters, local computers and high speed data links all need to function in the non-air-conditioned space under the cowling or in the wing. These systems compare engine performance to computerized models to reduce fuel consumption and predict maintenance before problems develop - knowing the answers before the questions are asked. The timing heartbeat of these control systems is a temperature stable avionics oscillator like the HPO series.

Available in frequencies from 25 to 150 MHz with temperature stability of ±5 ppm and overall stability down to ±25 ppm standard, the MtronPTI HPO series is an ideal choice for real-time harsh environment control applications. Factory custom frequency selection allows first article units in two weeks or less with low rate initial production in about a month. Operating temperature of -55 to +125 °C means an accurate frequency on the runway in Dubai or at Flight Level 390 (39,000') cruising to Asia.

The HPO series comes in a leadless 6-pad 5 x 7 mm ceramic package or in a gullwing 4-lead version. MtronPTI uses an AS9100 REV C and ISO 9001:2008 quality management system in the design and manufacture of the HPO series.
