City of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Increases Services, Launches New Online Payment Service

Pay your utility bills and more online with a credit/debit card

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- NIC is pleased to announce it is now serving a new customer, the City of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, who recently launched its new secure payment solution which brings tremendous efficiency to both the City and its constituency. This service enables businesses and citizens to make payments with credit/debit cards at the counter or online for a variety of services.

The City's leadership placed a high priority on improving its customer service through operations excellence. Investing in people, City staff listened to citizens and employees to receive feedback about opportunities for improvement. Committed, the City evaluated the role of technology in addition to the human element to determine how this could serve to compliment the City's overall vision to more efficiently deliver constituent services.

In the past, the process to collect charges for utility payments, building & codes, court-related costs, and other fees was typically handled only manually, limiting a customer's method for payment. Now, customers have more choices on their form of payment at the counter, and have instant access to make such payments via the NIC PayPort payment processing suite of solutions online. This is consistent with the City's goal of improving customer service while committing to and supporting its employees.

By using PayPort, the City collects payment for (15) services encompassing several departments with more to come. Users can access this online payment application at the City of Murfreesboro's website, www.murfreesborotn.gov and simply click the "Pay Online" button in the column at the left of the page. Similar to other departments, Building & Codes allows customers to use a credit card to make in-office payments with plans for online payments in the very near future. Payments to the City include nominal funds used to develop, maintain, and enhance the service offering.
