ServiceNow Elevates IT Governance and Operations

Data Certification Improves Accuracy and Efficiency of IT Operations

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ServiceNow® (NYS: NOW) , the enterprise IT cloud company, today announced data certification, a new capability in the ServiceNow CMDB (Configuration Management Database) that ensures data remains accurate, current and relevant. The CMDB typically serves as the single source of truth for IT infrastructure and operational data. ServiceNow data certification provides governance to CMDB data helping enterprise IT improve the efficiency of its operations.


The CMDB, which is the heart of any single system of record for IT, describes everything in the IT environment, how it is related and how it is used. For regulatory or procedural reasons, information in the CMDB needs to be regularly checked for accuracy and validation. The new data certification capability in the ServiceNow CMDB automates that process.

Accurate, trusted and current data is a critical requirement for a CMDB. The ServiceNow data certification capability significantly improves data accuracy and currency by scheduling people and groups to validate data models, attributes and configuration item relationships on a regular basis. ServiceNow data certification also supplements and confirms information gathered through automated discovery processes. ServiceNow provides a simple interface for these certification tasks allowing anyone to easily validate and manage any configuration items and relationships for which they are responsible.
