Style Throwback: Mother-Daughter Duos of the Small Screen
Samantha (Elizabeth Montgomery) and Endora (Agnes Moorehead) spent occasional episodes draped in cloaks.
When we think of classic tv moms, Carol Brady (Florence Henderson) is one of the first to come to mind. She and daughters Marcia (Maureen McCormick), Jan (Eve Plumb), and Cindy (Susan Olsen) were always dressed to the nines.
During the show's first episode, all three girls wore lacy, saccharine styles to their mother's wedding.
Ann Romano (Bonnie Franklin) and daughter Barbara (Valerie Bertinelli) embodied 1970s style.
Clair Huxtable (Phylicia Rashad) was always dressed in chic office attire, while daughters Vanessa (Tempestt Bledsoe), Rudy Huxtable( Keshia Knight Pulliam, and Sondra (Sabrina Le Beauf) enjoyed more eclectic styles.
It was never a dull moment with Sophia (Estelle Getty) and Dorothy (Bea Arthur) around, as the eye-rolling Dorothy constantly deflected her feisty Italian mother's one-liners.
While Dorothy favored pantsuits, Estelle usually stuck to robes.
Though her show was short lived, Angela (Claire Danes), has been inspring '90s nostalgia trends like plaid flannel shirts and dark lipstick ever since. Mom Patty (Bess Armstrong) had a penchant for stripes.
Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) Gilmore were close in age, and spent a lot of time gossiping and sipping coffee at a local cafe.
While Rory rocked a private school uniform most days, Lorelai stuck to business casual.
Quite possibly the only thing Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) and Julie Cooper-Nichol (Melinda Clarke) could agree on was a love of fashion and clothes.
Both mom and daughter were always sporting high-end designer gear on the show.
Single mom Susan (Teri Hatcher) and daughter Julie Mayer (Andrea Bowen) were close enough in age to swap clothes, although Susan didn't always take Julie's advice.
Nora (Sally Field) and daughter Kitty (Calista Flockhart) didn't always see eye to eye, and their personal styles reflect that. While Kitty favored tighter, more revealing styles, Nora preferred loose fits.
Serena (Blake Lively) and Lily Van der Woodsen were the ultimate fashionable mom and daughter duo. Here they are carrying shopping bags from Bendel's.
