Diana, Princess of Wales, announced her first pregnancy in November 1981, and openly discussed her experience with the press. She gave birth to William Arthur Philip Louis in a private wing of St. Mary's Hospital, and two years later to Henry Charles Albert David (known, of course, as Harry).
William and Harry's mother was the "People's Princess," one who cared deeply for dozens of causes, and related to the public easily. She was admired for being a hands-on mother and her boys adored her for it.
A fashion icon, Diana easily mastered pregnancy style of the 1980s -- just as Kate is acing pregnancy style today. The key? Maintaining a streamlined, classic silhouette (as Kate has done) and embracing comfortable, flowing dresses.
