Cameron International Increases Sales but Misses Revenue Estimate
Cameron International (NYS: CAM) reported earnings on April 25. Here are the numbers you need to know.

Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue increased significantly. Non-GAAP earnings per share expanded significantly. GAAP earnings per share grew.

Cameron International logged revenue of $2.12 billion. The 21 analysts polled by S&P Capital IQ anticipated revenue of $2.18 billion on the same basis. GAAP reported sales were 17% higher than the prior-year quarter's $1.80 billion.

EPS came in at $0.70. The 28 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.74 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.70 for Q1 were 30% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.54 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.60 for Q1 were 11% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.54 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 29.4%, 40 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 11.3%, 60 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 7.0%, 40 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $2.33 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.84.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $9.73 billion. The average EPS estimate is $3.79.
