Montana Department of Revenue Offers Mobile Application Payment Option to Taxpayers

HELENA, Mont.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Montana Department of Revenue would like to remind state taxpayers that they can pay their income taxes using their mobile devices. The department recently added the mobile option to its online service Income Tax Express. On average, four percent of income taxes have been paid with a mobile device.

"The department is continually looking for ways to make the tax process more convenient for citizens and the mobile-optimized application does that for people who frequently use their smartphones and other mobile devices," said Mike Kadas, Director of Revenue. "Mobile use has continued to increase and the department wants to make it as easy as possible for people to pay their taxes."

The mobile format automatically detects the type of device being used to access it and sizes the content for the viewing area of the device. The format adjusts buttons and views for simpler navigation, and allows for quick and efficient payment. To access Income Tax Express, visit https://app.mt.gov/ite.

The mobile app operates in a secure and protected system. The service is the result of an alliance between state government and the private sector. It was cooperatively developed and is supported by the Montana Department of Revenue, the Montana Department of Administration's State Information Technology Services Division, and Montana Interactive, LLC.

"The launch of this mobile payment application for the state of Montana is yet another milestone in bringing government to the citizen," said Ron Baldwin, Montana State Chief Information Officer. "This online convenience for Montanans expands traditional internet browser-based access on personal computers to mobile devices, including a mobile application that can be installed from the Android Market. This sets the stage for more mobile-enabled access to government services."
