For all his success, Robert Downey Jr., as Iron Man, has never proven to be as popular as either Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield, both of whom have played Spider-Man on the big screen. All that could change when Iron Man 3 debuts on May 3.
The film could follow in the footsteps of Marvel's The Avengers, and bring Walt Disney another billion-dollar box office, says Tim Beyers of Motley Fool Rule Breakers and Motley Fool Supernova in the following video.
Sony's best performance from a Spidey film came in 2007, when Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 earned $90.9 million worldwide, according to data supplied by Box Office Mojo.
