Ask the Guys: "How to Get My Boyfriend to Shop for a New Spring Wardrobe"
You asked, they answered!
Our friends at Mandatory are here once again to answer your questions for the guys that you were too shy to ask. This week, they're letting us know what they really think when we wear our sky high stilettos.
I WANT TO TAKE MY BOYFRIEND ON A SHOPPING TRIP TO GET HIM A NEW SPRING WARDROBE. HOW CAN I CONVINCE HIM THAT IT WON'T BE AS BAD AS IT SOUNDS?
Does it have to be an entire wardrobe on the first attempt? I can't speak for all guys, but I hate having to try on clothes. I have a strict "only one trip to the dressing room" policy. If he thinks the shopping trip is going to be him holding his arms out while you pile clothes on top of them for him to try on, he's going to be against it from the start.
Try telling him you saw a shirt or pair of pants or shoes that you think would look really good on him and ask if he'd be willing to go see if you were right. Then go do that and only that this time around. If all goes well (and it should because you usually have a better idea of style than we do), then he'll be a little more open to going on a lengthier trip the next go round.
Also, you need to promise him that you won't drag him into a store with no clothing for men and make him sit there while you try on close to every item in the store. If you do that, he's allowed to wear nothing but his "I'm not fat, I'm pregnant!" shirt and sweatpants all spring.
