Costco (NAS: COST) reported earnings on March 12. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at $1.10. The 26 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ anticipated $1.05 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $1.10 for Q2 were 22% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.90 per share. GAAP EPS of $1.24 for Q2 were 38% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.90 per share.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 12.5%, 20 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 3.0%, 20 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 2.2%, 50 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)

Looking ahead
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $24.35 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.03.

Next year's average estimate for revenue is $106.17 billion. The average EPS estimate is $4.53.
