Constellation Invests Additional $450,000 in Baltimore Energy Challenge & City Schools Sustainability Challenge

Office of Sustainability and Baltimore Community Foundation puts youth in charge on environmental concerns

WHAT:

 

Constellation is investing an additional $450,000 to further the goals of the Baltimore Energy Challenge and City Schools Sustainability Challenge, both programs of the Baltimore Office of Sustainability and the Baltimore Community Foundation. Since 2009, more than 80 schools have participated in energy and sustainability projects.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake;
Superintendent of Baltimore City Public Schools Andres A. Alonso
John Quinn, Director, Performance and Policy, Environmental Strategy, Exelon, Constellation's parent company;
Beth Strommen, Director, Baltimore Office of Sustainability;
Cheryl Casciani, Director of Neighborhood Sustainability, Baltimore Community;
Principal Tamara Hanson and green team students from John Eager Elementary School; and
Reservoir Hill Improvement Council Executive Director Rick Gwynallen and neighborhood Energy Captain.

WHY:

Young people are critically important to furthering the goals of the Baltimore Sustainability Plan. As tomorrow's leaders, they need to participate fully in their own futures. This investment allows the implementation of the program in additional schools and communities.
