Nail Polish
Some nail polish manufacturers rely a on a trio of toxic chemicals – toluene, formaldehyde, and dibutyl phthalate to keep manicures smooth and shiny. These harmful ingredients have been linked to cancer, asthma, and birth defects -- not to mention liver and kidney damage. When picking your polish, read the label carefully to avoid exposure to these dangerous carcinogens.

Skin Lighteners
Before you seek out over-the-counter creams and treatments to lighten brown spots, read the ingredients to make sure you’re not buying anything containing hydroquinone. The skin-bleaching agent has been known to cause ochronosis, a skin disease that causes blue-black hyperpigmentation and massive, caviar-like bumps all over the skin. In some cases, these symptoms become permanent.

No, we're not saying you should go to the tanning bed or even lay outside (we hope you know the extreme cancer risks, but also realize how much the sun dries out your skin), we're saying you should go for an airbrush tan.  Using natural ingredients, these often don't leave behind a scent, and last for up to two weeks! Moisturized, tan legs will look long and lean!

Brazilian Blowout
This popular salon treatment, which promises to smooth and straighten hair with long-lasting results, contains methylene glycol, which can release dangerous formaldehyde gas when heated during treatment. Formaldehyde is a toxic substance that has been linked to skin irritation in the short-term, and cancer after extended periods of exposure. When released in the air during treatment, formaldehyde can be harmful to both stylists and clients.
