Kopin Announces Major Advances in Golden-i Technologies
Novel Reference Design with Enhanced Software Shown at Verizon's Booth in CES 2013
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- At the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Kopin® Corporation (NAS: KOPN) will demonstrate major enhancements in its Golden-i® wireless hands-free computing and communication headset technologies based on natural speech and motion control. In addition to new functionality driven by software upgrades, the Golden-i 3.8 is a smaller and more powerful reference design aimed at the light industrial and professional market. The Golden-i 3.8 will be unveiled at the Verizon booth (Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall, Booth #31400).
At last year's CES, Kopin demonstrated the Golden-i 3.5 reference model, which was licensed to Motorola Solutions for its HC-1 product for heavy industrial applications. The new reference design Golden-i 3.8 is half the size and half the weight. It is also foldable to fit in your pocket and packs 16 times more processing power. Golden-i 3.8 has a new low light, inertial stabilized high-resolution camera to provide real-time video streams. It also has an accessory infrared camera that provides police, firemen, paramedics and first responders with night vision and thermal vision.
"The hands-free, wireless computing and communication headset will be tremendously useful for increasing work and office productivity," said Jeffrey Jacobsen, Kopin's Sr. Advisor to CEO and Golden-i Program Manager. "Such devices require a wide range of new technologies: lightweight and compact mechanical designs with good ergonomics, advanced electronics including a fast processor and broadband wireless communications, friendly user interface, useful application software, flawless voice recognition with noise cancellation, responsive gesture control, and ultra-small display and camera modules with super-low power consumption. We have been focusing on these innovations for more than five years and have made major advances in these areas. We are very excited about our new device and encourage everyone to experience it first-hand."
Kopin Corporation is developing Golden-i®, a proprietary voice-activated, cloud computing, wireless, hands-free technology with microdisplay capabilities for use in headset computers. Kopin's ultra-small liquid crystal displays and modules have been used for a range of consumer and military applications. Kopin's unique HBTs (heterojunction bipolar transistors), which help to enhance battery life, talk time and signal clarity, have been integrated into billions of wireless handsets as well as into WiFi, VoIP and high-speed Internet data transmission systems. Kopin's proprietary technologies are protected by more than 200 global patents and patents pending. For more information, please visit Kopin's website at www.kopin.com and www.mygoldeni.com.
