How To Become A School Principal [Infographic]
By Kristin Marino
There are few dull moments for school principals. From training teachers to having heart-to-heart talks with troubled students, principals are the people who keep schools running smoothly on a daily basis. Being the principal of a school is not a 9-to-3 job with summers off, however. These professionals work after hours, weekends and during the summer. They may also be expected to keep pace with the changing nature of education in our country through continuing education, conventions and more.
Even though some school districts are facing budgetary restraints, national job growth of school principals is projected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations. This growth is due to increases in enrollment, but growth will vary according to region. It is projected that there will be approximately 259,300 school principals in the U.S. by 2020.
