Government management and technology consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton (NYS: BAH)   has agreed to acquire the Defense Systems Engineering and Support (DSES) division of Maryland-based communications and engineering firm ARINC, the company announced today.

Booz Allen expects the $154 million cash acquisition  to add enhance capabilities in areas including aviation and maritime engineering, weapons modernization, and C4ISR (command, control, communications, computing, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance). Booz Allen is based in McLean, Va.

The deal needs regulatory approval. If approved, 1,000 ARINC employees will join Booz Allen's work force of 25,000.

"DSES is a good strategic fit that builds on Booz Allen's existing engineering capabilities and defense market position and offers opportunities for us to bring deeper and broader expertise to our clients in areas where we see a number of compelling opportunities," said Booz Allen CEO Ralph W. Shrader in a press release.

The deal is expected to add to Booz Allen's FY 2014 earnings. The company had revenue of $5.68 billion for the year ending March 31, 2012.
