The Karl Lagerfeld Interview: All Karl Lagerfeld interviews are good, but this one is knock-em-outta-the-park awesome. Here are some of our favorite lines:
"My mother, I was something like eight, said to me, 'You shouldn't wear hats. You look like an old dyke."
"I think tattoos are horrible. It's like living in a Pucci dress full-time."
"What I hate most is flip-flops. I am physically allergic to flip-flops."
"I also love gloves, if you may have noticed. You know why I wear cut ones? Because in the old protocol, it is impolite to say hello to somebody who is wearing gloves. And, you know, I cannot sketch if I have leather here. It also makes the arm longer. And you know what it means in French to have a long arm? It means you are influential."
And, our favorite quote, in answer to the question: "So what drives you, if it's not ambition?" Karl says: "The lack of satisfaction; that I think that I can still do better. That I'm lazy, that I could improve, that I should kick myself in the ass and things like this."
