Radisys to Participate in RCS VoLTE Interoperability Event 2012
Mobile operators will test service interoperability with GENBAND and other leading IMS vendors at global event led by MSF, ETSI and GSMA
HILLSBORO, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Radisys® Corporation (NAS: RSYS) , a leading provider of embedded wireless infrastructure solutions, today announced that it is sponsoring and participating in the RCS VoLTE Interoperability Test (IOT) Event in October 2012. This global multi-vendor interoperability event is organized by the MultiService Forum (MSF), the European Telecoms Standards Institute (ETSI) and the GSM Association (GSMA), and hosted by China Mobile in the China Mobile Research Institute Laboratory in Beijing and by Telecom Slovenia Group in Sintesio, Kranj, Slovenia.
Radisys will supply its Software Media Server, along with technical expertise to facilitate rapid integration with other participant equipment in a fully functioning IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) ecosystem environment. The Radisys Software Media Server will be performing as an IMS Media Resource Function (MRF), responding to media processing requests from IMS call control equipment supplied by other vendor participants in this interoperability event. It will support VoLTE announcements and branding service test cases, along with Rich Communications Suite (RCS) call flows under the control of the GENBAND A2™ Communications Application Server. In addition, Radisys will also supply a prototype IMS video application server and video User Element (UE) equipment to demonstrate RCS video sharing, video conferencing, and video transcoding use cases throughout the interoperability event.
"Standards-based VoLTE interoperability is of great importance to GENBAND's mobile operator customers so we are proud to support the RCS VoLTE Interoperability Event," said BG Kumar, President of GENBAND's Multimedia Business Unit. "For test cases requiring real-time media processing, our standards-compliant integration, with the Radisys Software Media Server acting as an IMS MRF, demonstrates the ability of the GENBAND A2 Communications Application Server to support a comprehensive VoLTE and RCS service in a multi-vendor IMS architecture."
"As a leading supplier of IP media server products and technologies, Radisys is committed to open industry standards in the supply of embedded wireless infrastructure solutions for the telecommunications industry," said Manish Singh, CTO, Radisys. "Our sponsorship and participation in the RCS VoLTE Interoperability Event not only demonstrates our commitment in terms of IMS MRF equipment and technical expertise, but also allows us to gain additional first-hand experience in supporting VoLTE and RCS services in a multi-vendor IMS ecosystem, positioning us to further improve our interoperability in ongoing product improvement programs."
Singh will be speaking about "Leveraging IMS for VoLTE and RCS Services in LTE Networks" during the workshop in Slovenia at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 11.
The RCS VoLTE IOT Event 2012 will endorse and test a number of GSMA Product Requirement Documents and will validate the Testing Scenarios developed by MSF, ETSI and GSMA to facilitate multi-vendor deployment of LTE, Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and IMS technology for RCS and VoLTE services. The test event, backed by major operators China Mobile, Verizon and Telecom Slovenia, will focus on validating key network interfaces to ensure multi-vendor deployment strategies for RCS, VoLTE, LTE, EPC and IMS technology.
"Radisys' commitment to the RCS VoLTE IOT highlights the significance of RCS, VoLTE, LTE, EPC and IMS technology for the telecommunications industry," said Kyu-Ouk Lee, MSF President. "The MSF, ETSI and GSMA are working together to validate the standards that support it."

About the RCS VoLTE Event 2012
The MSF, ETSI and GSMA are working in partnership to host the RCS VoLTE 2012 Event, to be held in the Fall 2012. The event builds on the major success of the previous MSF VoLTE Interoperability Event that took place during September 2011 and reflects the MSF's, ETSI's and GSMA's drive to continue to deliver major carrier driven events that benefit all its members in their quest to keep pace with an ever faster moving industry. The MSF/ETSI/GSMA VoLTE Interoperability test event will focus on validating core network interfaces to ensure multi-vendor deployment strategies for VoLTE and RCS technology and will validate the MSF/ETSI testing scenarios developed to incorporate 3GPP LTE/EPC technology and GSMA technical recommendations, focusing on Voice over LTE and RCS, with the support of hosts China Mobile in Beijing and Telecom Slovenia Group at the Sintesio lab in Kranj, Slovenia. http://www.msforum.org/interoperability/RCSVoLTE.shtml
