Since 2011, Pezalla has been working with PCAST members and others as a subject matter expert, and has played a key role in providing advice that has informed the development of the group's report.

President Obama first announced his 21-member PCAST in 2009 as an advisory group of the nation's leading scientists and engineers who directly advise the President and the Executive Office of the President. This group makes policy recommendations in the many areas that focus on science, technology, and innovation. These focus areas are key components to strengthening the economy and forming a policy that works for the American people.
