CityVille Lakefront Expansion: Everything you need to know

Before you go, we thought you'd like these...
Last week, we brought you a sneak preview of the then unreleased Lakefront feature in CtiyVille, which would see the game's board space expanded, giving players a chance to make their cities even larger than before. Now, the Lakefront has started rolling out to players that are at least Level 25 in the game, but you'll need to do plenty of work to actually get anything done.

This feature will see you working on both a Canal and a Drawbridge, which can be worked on at the same time. For the Canal feature, you'll need to collect 110 Bulldozers with the help of friends. The Drawbridge can be built using building materials, which can be earned either by asking your friends to send them to you or by purchasing them with City Cash. You'll need five different sets of items: Drawbridge Axles, Drawbridge Decks, Drawbridge Porcullis, Bridge Counterweights and Drawbridge Windlass. On top of all of that item collection, you'll also need to collect Rivets, which drop from "Lakefront-themed" buildings, like the Saddles Shop, Fisherman's House, Lake Lodge and more.

One final step to reaching this new land will be to expand your current city out to the Drawbridge, so that you can build enough road/sidewalk pieces to actually connect your old and new sections of town. Once you complete the Drawbridge itself, you'll receive 10XP, 20,000 coins, 10 Zoning Permits, 1,500 Goods and 200 XP.

What might disappoint a few players is the fact that this Lakefront isn't actually a continuation of your current town, but can almost be looked at as another "Downtown expansion." That is, you'll be able to access the Lakefront via a "Go to Lakefront" prompt in the top right corner of the gameplay screen, and will then be taken to a new, smaller map covered in trees. You may be able to see the other side of the river when playing in the Lakefront, but you will need to manually travel between the two sections of map, making this a less than entirely fluid experience.

All told, this Lakefront feature looks to give veteran players plenty to do in the coming days and weeks, as we perhaps wait for more true land expansions to be launched on the east or north sides of the game's beginner map. If that happens, we'll make sure to let you know!

What do you think of this Lakefront expansion? Have you already started working towards unlocking it, or do you already have enough room to keep your city growing for quite some time without it? Sound off in the comments!
