King's Bounty: Legions on Facebook: Killing with strategy
The premise is simple: You and a motley crew of adventurers defeating bands of villains and complete quests for mighty kings. As you move along you gain access to mightier and mightier fighters, creatures, wizards and knights to put in your lineup. Will you go with a ranged army, or something more balanced? Is magic something you prefer, or do you want to use nothing but magical creatures? I was surprised at how easy it was to get sucked up into building my miniature army, leveling them up and trying out different combinations. Even though the combat maps are small, I found myself trying to outmaneuver my enemies, pulling them into traps and trying my hardest to avoid death. It wasn't always so easy and I was, more than once, sent home with my tail between my legs.
The graphics are wonderful and flowing. Moving around the map doesn't feel like a static experience. Instead, the three-dimensional effects and moving clouds feel like a higher quality experience than you normally would expect in your browser. Character models and animations are top-notch as well, and the camera will even pan to show dramatic death scenes! I kept finding little details in the game that ramped up the experience much more. The quality music really added to the fun, and I found myself really gritting my teeth as I looked for the best strategy to defeat my enemies. King's Bounty: Legions is a perfect example of a game that is simple to learn but will take a long time to master. Although I have decided on an interesting loadout for my army, I can already see myself trying out new monsters and fighters as I gain them through questing.
I loved playing King's Bounty: Legions. It's easy if you want it to be, but you can push yourself into harder challenges relatively quickly. Another plus: I didn't feel like I was being punished when I died, instead learning something that might help me survive the next round. I would often lose to a group of enemies, tweak my group of soldiers, then go back and kick some butt. This game would be awesome for a general with self esteem issues.
