With a calendar lacking huge market-moving announcements, investors are turning toward corporate earnings to gauge the health of the economy. Markets started the week showing some reservation toward the upcoming earnings announcements, with the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.23% and 0.37%, respectively, as of 2 p.m. EDT. In the following video, analyst Brenton Flynn runs through a few top storylines of the day, including earnings from aluminum producer and Dow component Alcoa, which marks the unofficial start to earnings season.
