House of the Day: NYC's 'Townhouse in the Sky'

Before you go, we thought you'd like these...
townhouse in the sky

Insane luxury -- at a pretty insane price. This $28 million penthouse is probably better described as a "townhouse in the sky." On top of a five-story building in New York's Tribeca neighborhood, this apartment, if you can call it that, has its own whopping five additional stories. This ultra sleek and modern pad features three terraces, a private roof garden, a rooftop gym and huge windows. And, not surprisingly, it has ridiculous views of the city and Hudson River.

Additionally, the indoor space is almost 11,000 square feet and the home boasts 19 rooms, including seven bedrooms, four full and three half bathrooms. One of those bedrooms is part of the master-suite-of-all-master-suites: It has its own floor with a fireplace, enormous bathroom, sky-lit walk-in closet, a separate Jacuzzi room, and one of the three terraces.

Stainless steel/glass staircases and a private elevator provide easy transport between floors. The ultra-high-end kitchen has a breakfast room and a fireplace. Never run out of wine again with a 1,000-bottle wine cellar. The interior also features a home theater, a library, a sun room, and super-spacious double-height rooms throughout.

And, not to belabor the point, but this pad is located in the heart of Tribeca, which, according to New York magazine, could be considered the best place to live in the city. Why it's been on the market forever, we have no idea!

Stephen McRae of Sotheby's has the listing.
