Reliance Steel & Aluminum (NYS: RS) reported earnings on April 26. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at $1.54. The six earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $1.50 per share. GAAP EPS of $1.54 for Q1 were 25% higher than the prior-year quarter's $1.23 per share.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 25.3%, 120 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 8.1%, about the same as the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 5.1%, 30 basis points better than the prior-year quarter.

Looking ahead
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $2.44 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.52.

Next year's average estimate for revenue is $9.39 billion. The average EPS estimate is $5.75.
