American Dental Partners was last week's top performer, soaring 80% after agreeing to be acquired by private equity firm JLL Partners in a $398 million deal. Class action attorneys may be circling the wagon now, but there's no way that this deal doesn't go through given its 83% premium.

Home health-care specialist Gentiva climbed after SEC filings revealed that several insiders were putting their money where their depressed stock is and snapping up shares. Insider buying after a stock gets hammered is considered a bullish sign, though it's obviously not foolproof.

KIT digital -- a Prague-based company that helps content creators manage their digital video assets -- posted better than expected quarterly earnings for the first time in a year.

Barnes & Noble booked strong gains after the superstore chain unveiled a $250 tablet. The Nook Tablet will come with twice the RAM and initial storage capacity of the Kindle Fire. Even if the bookseller gets slammed on margins in the near term, it's a better strategy than waiting around to get Borders-ized.

Frontline coasted higher during what was generally a pretty good week for the oil tanker companies. Unrest in Europe led to a 5% pop in crude oil prices, likely motivating investors to get thinking about how that oil gets around.

It was a great week for these five stocks. Now let's see if they're up for an encore.
